Focus and self control: Develop Focused Attention

Mind in the Making parenting techniques

You are here: Home / Focus and Self Control / Focus and self control: Develop Focused Attention

June 14, 2017

Chapter 1 – Focus and Self Control. FOCUS: is being able to position attention in the right direction to achieve what one wants to achieve – being able to concentrate – for long periods of time – ignore distractions. (p.16)

Many kids feel rushed, overscheduled and stressed. (p. 13)

Children need this skill in order to achieve their goals, especially in a world that is filled with distractions and information overload. It involves paying attention, remembering the rules, thinking flexibly, and exercising self control.

It may be as important as IQ.

This is a Mini-Message by Dr. Darlene Clemens, summarizing one topic from Mind in the Making, by Ellen Galinksy. With permission of Ms. Galinsky to  Dr. Clemens, and of Dr. Clemens to Mark Baumann.
