Skill #3 – COMMUNICATING
Action 4: Tie your talk in to what is interesting to children. Researcher Roberta Golinkof of the University of Delaware, found that babies are most likely to learn the names of things that they find interesting, but as they gain the ability to take others’ perspectives, they can learn what others like as well. Children’s interests are the launching pads for building communication skills. (p. 146)
Action 8: Encourage your children to write. You can encourage writing long before your children know how to write, by taking dictation from them. Encourage them to journal – with no concern for spelling. (p. 153)
